Citi has named Asghar Ali as head of Corporate Banking Real Estate effectively immediately. Ali will be based in New York, reporting to Jason Rekate and John Chirico, co-heads Corporate Banking, and join the Corporate Banking Executive Committee.
“Real Estate continues to play an important role in our business, and his appointment is another step in strengthening our presence in this sector,” said the co-heads in a memo announcing the move. With more than two decades at Citi, Asghar has built a distinguished career spanning Corporate Banking, Leveraged and Acquisition Finance.
Starting in Pakistan, he moved to New York, taking on senior roles in the Global Loans and Leveraged Finance groups. In 2007, he relocated to Hong Kong, focusing on the Leveraged Finance business for Asia Pacific.
Ali brings global experience and a track record of delivering innovative, bespoke debt and corporate finance solutions, combined with strong client relationships.
This includes several landmark transactions for the firm’s Leveraged and Acquisition Financing Group and across real estate.
