Global wealth manager Manuka Management has partnered with alternative asset digital securities exchange Alta to become the asset firm’s co-fund manager in Southeast Asia for its flagship multi-strategy quant fund.
With a seven-year track record of delivering robust returns, the Manuka quant fund, the company notes, is a highly diversified vehicle that invests across global equities, energy and commodity futures, credit and event-driven strategies. This partnership, it says, signifies a shared commitment to unlocking greater accessibility to institutional-grade investment opportunities for investors in the Southeast Asian region.
As co-fund manager, Alta will leverage its network of investors and institutional partners ( member firms ) to enhance investor access to the fund across the region. Alta will also provide advisory and consultancy services to investors, ensuring seamless navigation through the fund’s sophisticated multi-strategy structure.
At Manuka, machine learning principles, the company shares, are applied to develop the in-house ‘market optimizer’, a sophisticated system that selects trading strategies from a depository of algorithms created by quantitative researchers. Each algorithm undergoes rigorous testing and periodic rebalancing to effectively manage risks and adapt to evolving market dynamics.
The flagship quant fund’s seven-year performance, the asset manager emphasizes, underscores its robust approach to leveraging opportunities across asset classes and strategies, delivering consistent value to its investors.
In recent months, Alta had also listed notable funds from leading firms, such as Hamilton Lane, Davidson Kempner, and Ray White ( Australasia’s largest real estate firm ), and inked a partnership with NH Investment & Securities, one of Korea’s largest financial institutions.
“Southeast Asia is home to a rapidly growing pool of sophisticated investors who are increasingly seeking diversified and high-performing investment strategies,” says Lee Lian Foo, Alta’s managing director for fund management. “By enabling access to the Manuka quant fund, we are addressing this demand and creating pathways for investors to participate in a truly cutting-edge, multi-strategy quant vehicle.”
Fred Chak, Manuka’s director of technology, adds: “Our proprietary systems have completed billions of dollars of trading across global markets in the past seven years, and they have proven to be effective in tapping a broader array of strategies. Partnering with Alta allows us to extend these opportunities to a broader audience in Southeast Asia.”
